Holistic Centers Network - Time to Say Goodbye

Dear Members of the Holistic Center Network and Interested Parties,

During this past decade the Holistic Centers Network (HCN) has partnered with holistic centers around the world to co-create international gatherings at some of these centers. These annual events have taken place in China, USA, Canada, the U.K. and elsewhere, and included representatives from centers located in England, Australia, China, Germany, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Viet-Nam, the U.S., Canada, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand, Mexico and others. This movement emerged seamlessly from the annual International Centers Gatherings that have been taking place since the 1980s. Those gatherings in turn emerged from the establishments of holistic centers across the planet that began decades prior.

No matter where you find them, holistic centers are inevitably a local expression of a universal intuition (this revolution will not be franchised!). The value proposition of holistic centers, and of these international gatherings, has been to encourage conscious evolution in this world of extreme opportunities and challenges. The educational curriculum of holistic centers, no matter where they are located, includes everything raised up by the human potential movement, and equally addresses the emergent poly crises of global climate change, the burgeoning divide between those who hold wealth and power and those who do not, and the struggle to find meaning with respect to a host of issues, from the impacts of AI to studying the history, theory and practices necessary to deal with racial, gender and economic justice.

These centers, while being spiritually and politically agnostic, are thriving in both communist and capitalist economies, in third, second and first world political structures, and in nearly every biome on earth. The workshops, retreats, conferences, and events that are hosted at these centers, regardless of their locations, support and amplify personal evolution in a variety of ways, including ancient wisdom traditions such as yoga and meditation, healing practices such as herbal medicine and various forms of body work, sane relationships to intimacy, creative engagement with the arts, and the exploration and acknowledgement of emergent technologies and science. Our work supports and facilitates the gathering of people in celebration of the experience of life.

The Holistic Centers Network emerged from these gatherings as a vehicle for these movements to facilitate the sharing of information and inspiration in service to our common goals. Over the course of the past decade, HCN worked collaboratively with many individual centers, and provided both technical and financial support towards facilitating the annual centers' gatherings.

Despite these manifold activities and successes, it is nonetheless clear to us that the time has come for HCN to retire its role. Both our financial and labor resources are dwindling, and efforts to reinvigorate fundraising efforts have been insufficient, those of us in leadership roles are ready to move on and the time has come for a new era in which our focus returns to the annual in-person Gatherings, and considers possible international online Gatherings. There is no doubt in our minds that the holistic centers will continue to survive and thrive, and that there will continue to be centers and gatherings hosted around the world, as they were for thirty years before the HCN began.

Thank you to all the many who have contributed to this movement in the past, and who add their efforts and wisdom to the present work.

If you are interested in joining other Holistic Centers for a Gathering in Connecticut USA in May 2025 please contact Saralyn saralyn@guesthousecenter.org. The Gathering will have a spacious agenda with plenty of time to connect and reconnect with both new and old friends.

In gratitude and love,
